Remember SEGA's Yakuza Wars trademark? Well, it seemingly is a mobile strategy game with Kiryu and Majima that you'll be able to play on the loo

A Facebook page puporting to be for a new Like A Dragon title called Yakuza Wars has popped up, along with some apparent advertisements. What is the game? Well, assuming these are genuine, a mobile strategy game starring the likes of Kiryu, Majima, and Ichiban Kasuga with some pretty meme-worthy artwork. If you’re out of the loop, people are assuming this game to be what a SEGA trademark filed back in July for something called “Yakuza Wars” – with the listing offering no inkling as to what that could mean – was all about. Though, as of writing, there’s no official announcement of that being the case or not.To see this content please enable targeting cookies.Manage cookie settings A Facebook page claiming to be for “Yakuza Wars” has been spotted, with it suggesting that the game is an offici…

UPDATE: Metro studio 4A Games to remain with Embracer Group, rather than being acquired by Space Marine 2 developer Saber Interactive

UPDATE (13/09/24, 1:10 PM BST): Embracer Group has now confirmed in a press release that 4A Games and Zen Studios will be sticking with it, with their potential sales to Saber Interactive as part of the $247 million deal announced earlier this year that’s seen the latter be sold to Beacon Interactive from the former having been cancelled.Saber CEO Matt Karch, who wrote in a letter to staff back in March that the company planned to pick up options that would see it acquire and take the Metro and Pinball developers with it, said in a fresh statement to Bloomberg that “it was always our intention to exercise on 4A”, but added “we thought it would be better for all parties” for the studio to remain with Embracer. Our original story from earlier this year follows below. You know how w…

While you wait for the next show from the team behind The Office, the latest remake of the mockumentary series gets its first trailer from down under

The first trailer for the latest iteration of The Office is here, this time being an Australian version and it looks… not great.Look, we all know that the US version of The Office is an incredibly popular TV series, massively outdoing the British original, but I’ll be perfectly honest, I didn’t know how often it had been remade. Outside of the UK original and American versions, there have been 12 different takes on The Office, including ones from Canada, Germany, India, and Poland. And soon, that number is going to go up to 15 in total, as an Australian remake of the series is coming out next month, with Prime Video dropping the first trailer for the mockumentary yesterday. There’s just one slight problem, which is that it is one of the most painfully unfunny things I’ve seen in a g…

Gladiator 2's latest trailer is one for those of you that hate modern music in historical epics, not one for those that hate screaming, blood-covered apes and spoilers

Paramount has put out a new trailer for Gladiator 2, and it might be a bit more welcoming to those who don’t like to mix new with old. When the first trailer for Gladiator 2 released back in July, I couldn’t help but laugh a little bit at the fact it used Kanye West and Jay-Z’s No Church In The Wild. Clearly some executive said “we just gotta put it a big song people recognise”, and that’s what they landed on/ could get the rights to. Silliness aside, it did at least look like one of those blockbusters of old, before the days of Marvel, and now yesterday Paramount released the film’s second trailer which feels a bit more tonally appropriate, even if it does now have some screaming, bloody apes that will probably give me nightmares. Oh, and, it should come with a bit of a spoiler warning, as…

Not sure if you can do a spoiler warning for a 23 year old game, but some players are getting their Silent Hill 2 remake copies early, so here's one anyway

Oops, looks like it’s spoiler season for the Silent Hill 2 remake, as some players seem to already have copies of the game. What’s the rules on spoilers when it comes to remakes of games that have been out for decades at this point? If you ask me, I think a little bit of courtesy is nice as for a lot of people this will be the first time they’re experiencing the game – it’s kind of like Final Fantasy 7 Remake, where pretty much everyone knows that One Big Spoiler, but we all talked about it generally vaguely for fear of spoiling it for someone who somehow didn’t know. And now we’re here again, this time with the Silent Hill 2 remake, where I’m having to warn you about spoilers, as it looks like at least a few players have gotten their copies of the game (very) early. To see this content plea…

Helldivers 2 players, a big final battle to hold Turing in your space station MO is on, and here's a video of General Brasch suplexing a tank you can only watch if you win

Helldivers 2 latest order in the path towards building that space station has seen some unforseen challenges thrown Super Earth’s way – the main one being a whole PSN outage. Now, though, the current Major Order is entering its final stages, and it looks like they’d be defined by a final big stand to hold Turing, even if you won’t necessarily be fighting on it.Yep, there’ve already been plenty of little victories in this MO’s quest to facilitate the building of that new, state-of-the-art Xenoentomology Center that’ll let you ping about some gigstructures and continue assembling the big new toy in Gallivare’s orbit, but things aren’t quite over yet.To see this content please enable targeting cookies.Manage cookie settings After surving that outage earlier this week, the divers have been doi…

Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero blasts past 100k concurrent players on Steam as early access period concludes

Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero has surpassed over 100,000 concurrent players on Steam, following the conclusion of its early access release window. As of writing it is at the top of the store’s Top Selling list. The game, which is brilliant by the way as noted in our review, hit this eye-catching milestone overnight. Before that, it was hovering somewhere between 80-90 thousand purely from those who spent a little extra to play the game early. It’s also worth noting the obvious, that this figure doesn’t take into account PlayStation and Xbox players. To see this content please enable targeting cookies.Manage cookie settings This surge in players has resulted in new wave of reactions and overwhelming joy at the content offering. Some of this stems from the single player, which features multiple i…

Polygon’s favorite Dungeons & Dragons accessories

VariousThere are so many ways to be a Dungeons & Dragons fan these days. The tabletop RPG mainstay has been synonymous with pen-and-paper adventuring for 50 years now, and 2024 marks a major reworking of its core rulebooks to make the game more approachable. Anyone who’s played even just a couple of sessions knows how easy it can be to covet a friend’s set of custom dice, appreciate the care a Dungeon Master has taken in setting the right ambience for a crafted campaign, or even obsess over their choice of pen and notebook — after all, it’s what you’ll be spending a large chunk of time staring into as you ponder your character’s next heroic action. But what’s amazing is that you can be a huge D&D fan without ever touching a character sheet. D&D and the Forgotten R…

The Nintendo Switch OLED is $50 off

Nintendo of AmericaCameron Faulkner (he/him) is Polygon’s commerce editor. He began writing about tech and gaming in 2013, and migrated from The Verge in 2023.One of the best unofficial October Prime Day deals has come early at Woot, where you can get a new Nintendo Switch OLED with either white or neon blue/red Joy-Con for $299.99 ($50 off). It’s not typical for this console to receive any kind of discount, so we’re usually skeptical that there’s something amiss when one pops up, like an iffy warranty, or that it isn’t the U.S. version, which includes a different power adapter. However, there are no strings attached; you’re just getting a great deal.Nintendo Switch OLED$300$35014% off$300Nintendo’s hybrid console still has plenty of staying power, especially with this year…
